What's on for Christmas

Nov 16 2018 3:05 PM

Following the success of the 2018 Christmas Pageant, many businesses have jumped on board with our vision to make festive activities more inclusive of individuals on the autism spectrum, their families and carers.

Please find below an update on the upcoming activities that we are sharing with our community on the Autism SA Facebook pageTwitter,  Instagram and Infomail throughout November and December:

Westfield Sensory Santa

Visit Santa in a sensory friendly environment at the below Westfield locations:

Tea Tree Plaza

West Lakes

David Jones Magic Cave

After greeting the community at the Christmas Pageant, Father Christmas has taken up residence at the Magic Cave!

An early morning session has been arranged for a limited number of families to see Father Christmas, prior to the normal opening hours of the store. Photos of the special morning will be shared on the Autism SA Facebook page.

Armada Arndale Sensory Santa

We were able to once again secure a two hour timeslot for a special Santa Sensitive session at the Armada Arndale Enchanted Magic Forest on Sunday 2 December, and we had some very excited families visit Father Christmas.

Churchill Centre Sensitive Santa

On Wednesday 19 December, from 8.30-9.30am, families are invited to enjoy a Sensitive Santa session with a free photo at Churchill Centre.

Santa will be located at the Little Chicago Express Santa Station by Aldi on the day. Bookings are not necessary, but Jessica at Churchill Centre is happy for any enquiries to be directed to herself at

Christmas Garden private bookings

The Christmas Garden has once again made bookings available for families in the autism community to enjoy a special private session on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 December at Uni SA Mawson Lakes.

Last year, families enjoyed an amazing display of five life sized scenes from the original Christmas story, with many of the characters and animals handmade by artists living in the Salisbury and Mawson Lakes areas. The scene will be just as wonderful this year, and there will be a candy cane garden to visit too!

To apply to attend a private session on Monday or Tuesday, or for other enquiries, please email

Flip Out Munno Para autism friendly evening

Flip Out Munno Para are passionate about making a difference and have jumped on board with Autism SA – signing up to participate in the online Autism Friendly Charter training and working with the Strategic Marketing team to develop monthly sensory sessions for the Northern community.

Their first sensory session is set to be held on Monday 17 December from 6pm-7pm. Please call 8254 3700 to make a booking for the Autism SA sensory session, or book in store.

Lollipops Playland autism friendly evening

Lollipop’s Playland Golden Grove is spreading the Christmas joy and for the first time will open their doors on Thursday 20 December to Autism SA for a special free-entry evening with a visit from Santa.

Julie, Director of Lollipop’s Playland Golden Grove, decided to hold a free event night for Autism SA for Christmas this year “to give families an opportunity to come along and have a fun evening whilst meeting other families alike in a safe secure facility... an event where parents/carers and children would feel comfortable to let their children play freely whilst sitting and enjoying a hot drink or meal in our café.”

Santa will make a special appearance on the night, and the cafe will remain open with food and drinks for purchase.

Tickets to this event will be released here on Sunday 9 December at 11am.
