Autism SA and the NDIS

Autism SA is a diverse organisation with extensive experience and knowledge of the Autism Spectrum in relation to education, Short Term Accommodation, community, early intervention, and clinical sectors. 

With the Australian Government’s launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Autism SA has taken a lead role in providing services to individuals with a National Disability Insurance Scheme Plan.

What services are available through NDIS funding at Autism SA?

Autism SA can provide Transdisciplinary Support Packages and we also assist families and clients to develop an NDIS Plan, tailored to suit the needs of your family and individuals living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with a permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. The scheme will support people with disability through individualised funding packages and personalised plans.

What is a Service Plan/Quote and why does this need to be developed before I can receive services?

Our Senior Intake Advisor assists families in understanding and planning the available services and support in accordance with the NDIS process and individual NDIS plans. The Service Plan/Quote is developed to ensure we determine and provide the appropriate services.

Once I have completed the Autism SA – NDIS Request for Services Form when will I be contacted?

The Senior Intake Advisor will contact you within 1-5 business days of submitting the Autism SA – NDIS Request for Services Form to discuss developing a Service Plan/Quote and answer any questions you may have.

Why do I need to provide a copy of my child’s NDIS plan, goals and participant number?

Autism SA staff aim to assist you and/or your child in achieving their personal needs, goals, and aspirations. In order to do this, they require a copy of yours or your child’s NDIS plan and goals to work with you and your child to ensure we are working towards the same outcomes.  The participant number will be used to access the participant’s details on the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Provider Portal to verify services covered by the plan and availability of funding to meet the cost of these services.

When can I expect services to commence for my child?

We assess vacancies on a weekly basis and when spaces are available, we will begin making waiting-list offers immediately.

Where are services provided?

Our staff is able to provide services at our Autism SA clinic (Netley), a variety of other sites across metropolitan Adelaide, home, schools, child care centers and these options can be discussed during the development of your Service Plan/Quote.

Please note, for locations other than our Clinic or home visits, you will need to gain permission from the centre, school, etc. for Autism SA to provide services on their premises. Travel costs apply for services provided that are more than a 10km (round trip) from our Autism SA specified locations. We can inform you of the options available and the costs associated.

What is the cost per service? 

Autism SA charge for services at the prices identified by NDIA. This price list contains information on maximum or benchmark prices of identified supports. This price list is not a comprehensive list of all supports that may be provided in NDIS, but includes prices for the most commonly used supports.

What happens when I accept services?

If you accept services, a letter of confirmation specifying dates, times and venue will be sent to you. You will also receive an NDIS Service Agreement which you will need to sign and return to Autism SA. The agreement allows Autism SA to claim the cost of services delivered. By signing the agreement you indicate your acceptance and understanding of the following:

  • The Services to be delivered
  • Autism SA’s Cancellation Conditions
  • Autism SA’s Charter of Customer Rights and Responsibilities
  • Autism SA’s Terms and Conditions of Trade

We will provide the services as outlined in your Service Plan/Quote.

I currently don’t have an NDIS plan or participant number.

We are unable to provide services through NDIS funding until we receive a copy of your or your child’s NDIS plan and participant number, please ensure to return to our website to complete the Autism SA - NDIS Request for Services Form once you have received these.

In the interim while you are waiting for the NDIS funds and plan to be approved you may access our ‘fee-for-service’ option which is a payment model where services are unbundled and paid for separately. If you wish to arrange this you may contact 8379 6976 and ask to speak with the Training and Development Officer.
