Autism SA offers a range of customised professional development packages to suit the needs of your community! Experienced presenters are able to conduct sessions on a range of topics including; An Into to ASD, Best Practice, Increasing Social Interaction, Proactive Prevention of Behaviour and Developing and using Visual Supports to name a few. The content, time and date can all be adapted to suit the need of individual sites. There is no limit to the number of participants that can attend the session so have a chat with other organisations in your area and book a date!

The Power of Peers: Raising awareness of the Autism Spectrum in the classroom
This half day workshop will guide participants through ‘The Power of Peers’ (peer awareness) program and will explicitly demonstrate how to implement the program to classes in school environments to develop peers understanding, support and acceptance of ASD. Participants will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of the program and will feel confident implementing the program in their schools.

Proactive Prevention of Meltdowns for students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
In this workshop the emphasis is on-
Positive Behaviour Support Frameworks
Functional Behaviour Assessments
Understanding behaviour
and knowing each student with an ASD individually, to achieve the best for that student, other students and the whole school.
Participants will look at the planning and principles required when creating proactive approaches to support students with an ASD who experience challenging behaviours.

IPads and Apps for children with special needs
Heard about iPads – or do you have one, but still unsure how to use one? Would you like to know which applications are useful for your child with a disability?
This hands-on workshop includes:
• Navigating an iPad,
• What is the iTunes Store, and where do you get apps?
• Compare current teaching tools to available applications
• Focus on visual scheduling, Social Skill and Assisted and Augmentative Communication
• Look at a case study (or use own example) and find an appropriate strategy using an application on the iPad

Increasing Social Success for students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
This workshop will look at enhancing social understanding for individuals in the classroom, small groups and 1:1 environments. 
Participants will explore what are social skills, why social skills are important, identifying what social skills to teach and how to teach them. Participants will develop an understanding of a range of intervention strategies including-

Best Practice for Engaging Students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
School Inclusion Program staff introduces strategies for engaging students with an ASD in the classroom and schooling in general. The strategies introduced and guidance given, relate to an understanding of the complex nature of current classroom environments. This workshop seeks to increase the learning possibilities for students with an ASD in main-stream schools. 9:30am- 4:00pm- 19th March 
 
Keyword Signing
For children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Keyword Signing is often used to assist communication development and to attempt to reduce frustrations caused by limited language skills.
It can be used in conjunction with any other form of communication strategy such as speech therapy, use of visuals or Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Participants will leave with the skills and knowledge of nearly 100 signs for everyday use. 9:30am- 12:30pm- 26th March
 
Video Modeling for Social Devlopment Intervention
Video modeling is an observational learning method that can be used to teach social and communication skills to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other disabilities. In this hands-on workshop we will look at: Social understanding, Video modeling methodology, iModeling Program, Video modeling methods, Video modeling in practice and Filming and editing practical. Participants will practice using the iModeling app (video modeling application) and will get the application donated.9:30am- 4:00pm 16th April
 
Stressed to the Max and Emotional Regulation
How can we support students to reduce/manage stress, anxiety or anger? Participants will develop an understanding of stress and the impact that stress can have on a student’s behaviour.  Participants will learn about how to teach a range of skills and programs including ‘Progressive Muscle Relaxation’, ‘Incredible 5 Point Scale’ and ‘The Way to A’.

Supporting Students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder for SSO/ESO’s
A whole day, hands-on, practical session just for SSO’s, ESO’s and ELOs!

Constructive tips when facing challenging behaviour
And how to look after your own needs on the job!

Tackaling the tough topics
Masturbation, menstruation, puberty, public/private, showering and shampooing! Managing these
behaviours and changes can be challenging enough for anybody, and with the added complexity of ASD, how do you manage such difficult and taboo topics? This workshop is designed for professionals and families who support individuals on the autism
spectrum. Participants will be guided through general strategies and supports as well as focusing on individual concerns around
‘Tackling the tough topics’.
