Our second Awards Presentation Dinner held on Saturday 19 May at the Sunnybrae Function Centre was a great success. The Guest of Honour was our Patron, Her Excellency Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC, CVO, MBE, Governor of South Australia, who assisted in handing out the Awards that were presented. Autism research continues within the Sansom Institute at the University of South Australia. Toilet Training Troubles - Resource
Throughout Term 1, 2007, fourth year Occupational Therapy students Nicole Glynn and Sarah Kellie conducted a participatory community practice project at Suneden Special School as part of their studies. The project entitled 'Toilet Training Troubles' aimed to increase the awareness of, and access to, existing resources for the support of successful toileting for parents of children with developmental disabilities. read full article

‘Someone to turn to…’
The ‘Someone to turn to…’ parent to parent support program is seeking volunteers. Volunteers need to be parents whose child has had a diagnosis for more than a year. Being a volunteer involves making regular phone calls to newer parents and offering support and a “listening ear”. These phone calls are often only once a fortnight. Training is offered to interested people and is either two days on a weekend or three shorter days...read full article

2007 Review of Carer Payment [child] contributions

In March 2007 the Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs announced a broad ranging review of Carer Payment (child) and appointed a Taskforce to provide independent advice to Government by 30 November 2007. Parents and carers are encouraged to contribute to this process. read full article
