Sonrise

The Sonrise program is based on the work of Barry Neil Kaufman and Samharia Kaufman whose son was diagnosed with autism in the 1970s. They initiated their own home based program and claim to have cured their son by providing an average of 40 hours per week of 1:1 support in a specific Sonrise room. Sonrise is a child-directed program involving joining the individual through initation of their behaviours and then increasing the attention span so that specific tasks can be taught. The program is run through their Option Institute in Massachusetts USA which runs a variety of different training and counselling programs base on the idea that "happiness is a choice".
