Snoezelen Room
Two Dutch Nurses, Ad Verheaul and Jan Hulsegge,
designed a multi-sensory room called Snoezelen (combining
the words of sniff and doze) that includes specific lighting
and flooring, aromatherapy, and tactile and auditory input.
There is a light (active area) and dark (relaxation area)
area. This is a specific copyrighted technique and differs
from other sensory rooms in that there are specific characteristics
and stipulations for the room.
