Giant Steps (Canadian Institute for Neuro-Integrative Development)

Developed in 1982 in Canada by Darlene Berringer, Giant Steps is an autism specific schooling option available in Tasmania and Sydney. Giant Steps aims to provide a multi-disciplinary educational and therapeutic approach focusing on behaviour analysis, music therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Teaching is provided at the child’s pace and the aim is to integrate children into mainstream education on their own or supported with a ‘shadow’.
