Facilitated Communication (FC)
Another person provides physical support to
an individual using an alternative or augmentative communication
device (e.g. picture board, typewriter or computer). FC
has revealed great depths of thought in some people with
an Autism Spectrum Disorder but is also considered controversial.
Questions have been raised concerning the influence of the
person supporting the hand or arm of the individual.
